Is there any way of knowing that the server is down? It's down now afaik, but the banner still says "server up!"

Yeah, that's because it went down while I was at work and couldn't put it back up :/ It'll be up in a few minutes.
The banner is more for when I want to say that it's down for maintainence or an update, not unexpected crashes.
I'll look into some code to help players determine when the server is up or not remotely by the website maybe, I know it's possible I just have no idea how to go about doing that :/

It has been quite jumpy this morning, Greenwich time. Eventually, it popped, and remains down as far as I can tell.

You know, my biggest gripe with NWN2 atm must be the lag. It's just such a buzzkill. But in the same breath I'd also like you to know that that's why I play on Acheron's Spawn 2, that there's very little lag compared to the other worlds

The server has crashed again, and the forums, too. Got the error message: "Too Many Connections. There are currently too many connections to this server. Please check back again in 30 seconds."

I have no idea what's causing these crashes. Really frustrating since whenever I get up from sleep or come home from work I find the server's gone frozen or down for some reason, usually while people are on it :/ If those on could post what they were doing when it crashed that would help to see ifit's a script or an area or something that's causing it.

I looked at a spellstorm mage funny and then it crashed... Those spellstorm mages, man... when they destroy stuff they take the entire server with em

It usually crash when I transition, so I'll pay attention when and where. Or maybe it's just coincidence. there's also huge lag spikes when people join.

I do crash sometimes during a transition, but it's a client-side crash for me. And I don't get lag spikes when people join; the lag spikes are pretty random. Last night I was playing alone and I wasn't even fighting, yet I was experiencing lag spikes and eventually it exploded. However, the lagdom is more likely to occur if there are more people on the server, or so I've noticed.

Well, I don't have alot of data to back this up, but of the 4 or so times the server have went down I was transitioning, With only 4 times I can happily attest that to coincidence.

This won't prevent the crashes, but I've heard of some servers using NWNX4 for auto-rebooting their PWs. I tried looking into the site but most of the scripting and terminology is over my head; I'm not sure what kinds of experience the Acheron staff has with this kinds of stuff. www.nwnx.org/Just thought I'd put it out there.

NwNx won't reboot from the type of crashes the server has. The program has to close entirely for nwnx to work, instead, the server screen freezes most of the time..to nwnx it'll look like it's still running, its just 'not responding'
