Even in the old AD&D system they had a light conjuring spell: Faerie Fire, used to illuminate an enemy in illusory flames, outlinging them and making them easier to hit.I believe they were split in two groups then, noble and normal. The nobles had more powers, like levitate.
Well the question "what would you do" dont really apply that fully. Trapped on an isle due to storms after a shipwreck, I most certainly wouldnt try to earn money by killing monsters or go bounty hunting for pirates. But I am not playing myself, that would be a boring char indeed .
No, im exploring the life of for example a wood elf ranger of Shevarash, who hates drow, and sees it as his holy duty to his god to help make them extinct, and who considers an word of Elistraee and good drow (like Drizzt) to be devious propaganda from the drow.
A paladin might initiate RP, and talk to the drow, the aforemenioned ranger, might rather fire an arrow at the drow, If he is SURE IT IS A DROW. Of course due to server rules, I would in the aforementioned example send an OOC tell to the player in question, asking if its ok.
And the aforementioned ranger have had dealings with Fade's (disguised) drow, not knowing she was one.
The one occation he saw her undisguised, she had people that vere obviously allies, so he made some threats after confirming they indeed seemed willing to defend the drow, ran off, and then tried stalking her instead, hoping to catch her alone.
And yes evil characters (possibly also neutral) may ally themselves with drow, but the reputation of drow race will usually keep them from trusting them.
And the only drow ive seen on this server is Fade. Tough imho, power gamers wouldnt play drow in nwn2. Unless you hit a level cap, drow are more disadvantaged than advantaged due to their xp/level penalty. Especially at lover lvls.
How you react to them is up to the characters personality and alignment... I ave three characters, one who would be wary, but probably tolerate her existence. One who might be more curious, and one who hates all drow, and would do his utmost to slay any. Including proven good ones such as the aforentioned popular fiction character. He would not be able to wrap his head around that individual drow might not be evil.
Lastly while the PCs in most cases will be from Faerun, the town is a colony of Azure, from the planes and NOT from Fearun or even Toril.
Dont remember orcs being non intelligent. Generally stupid and brutish, yes. chaotic and evil, yes. But still some inividual orcs have been in the past been depicted as cunning. And they do a fair bit of infighting.
