While we intend to hopefully include something for everyone, and a little bit of everything from that list(and a whole lot of regular RP too), pleasing everyone is impossible, so what do our players want most, so we know what to focus on?
Oh, also, the 'doesn't matter' option is for those who don't really have a preference, anyone who's playing on this server should want to roleplay heavily, otherwise they'd likely be in the wrong server. If the majority votes on not really minding either way, I'll put up a new poll later to refine the results.

Well, I chose other because I'd like to see a mixture. I also posted earlier on a different thread about the war/political powers and such. Loosing a town you know so well ect. Im definitly a biggy on that type of stuff though.

This poll may decide the exact starting location, so get anyone of your friends that are looking forward to the server to get on here and offer their opinions on what they'd like.

I've made true on my promise in another post I can't seem to find right now, to start fleshing out the lore of the setting. You can all find it in the new section of the forums, 'The Sapphire Lands' though for now I've kept things brief and will expound on particulars once an exact starting location is reached and I start building the areas and getting the scripts together. Forgive me if there is some redundancy in my posts, I couldn't find time before now to get to it and it's pretty late, and I'm pretty tired. I'll be cleaning it up of any errors in time.

Is there only going be one starting point? or will there be a couple say one for good one for evil or one for those of Azure and one for those who have no ties to Azure?

One starting point though there might be differences in the tutorial/intro areas depending on race and alignment.'
Edit : ofcource, there will be player housing too and once a house is acquired a player's starting point will be shifted there, if that's what you meant.

Well, in my understanding, Drama is a VERY broad term. War and politics for example would probably both be Drama. (Given that theres bound to be conflicts in both, and both will be depicted bt words and actions, and certainly emotions comes in, wether finding your career ruined and your name dragged trough the mud, or seeing your long time friend be fried to a crisp by a fireball.
This meaning may not be what was meant b "drama" in the poll tough. If so, itd be good to know what you meant .
From Merriam-Webster online dictionary: 1 a: a composition in verse or prose intended to portray life or character or to tell a story usually involving conflicts and emotions through action and dialogue and typically designed for theatrical performance : play — compare closet drama b: a movie or television production with characteristics (as conflict) of a serious play; broadly : a play, movie, or television production with a serious tone or subject <a police drama> 2: dramatic art, literature, or affairs 3 a: a state, situation, or series of events involving interesting or intense conflict of forces b: dramatic state, effect, or quality <the drama of the courtroom proceedings>

Excellent point, Cyrgon. I like you a little bit more When I originally made the poll, my idea of 'drama' was a kind of more social aspect of storytelling. Instead of war and intrigue and politics there'd be more character building with NPCs and PCs, stories about small-scale betrayals and romances, and very quaint events that didn't impact things on a wider scale. I should've been more specific. So far, as far as the poll in general goes, I'm starting to see what people are least interested in at least, and that is just as helpful as knowing what they're most interested in.

Hmmm. Thanks for clarifying. Im unsure if i should change my vote or not... Drama that way sounds good, tough i think id prefer it against a backdrop of one of the others, a war or political strife for example. I like some substance to the drama, wich the war/politics give. I fear that Drama without any metaplot (like the war / politics for example) becomes stagnant and possibly a bit trite. The other way around, it may start looking more like a tactical game, like playing JUNTA or some wargame. Some balance would be needed. And theres nothing that says that lesser dramas cant go on while the "big plot" moves on. Who knows some of them may grow, from the flapping of a butterfly to a huge storm

course, my intent is to have a bit of everything, though I'll have less of w hat people are least interested in and more of what people are most interested in.

Hi guys. Heard you were working on a server but it was a real bummer when I heard it wasn't good old FR server. I've been looking for a good one but there just isn't any that's based around Forgotten Realms. I found one server that would be almost perfect but it's its own world which is kinda turn off for me. I've been talking with some old friends I used to play on MD and no one has found a good FR server. For me it's hard to get into the server when I don't know anything about the world. And well I guess I also just like too much of FR. I know there are some FR servers already out there and some that claim to be FR server but are located somewhere no one really know and thus are besically their own worl cut out from the mainland. What's the problem with all those servers though is that they aren't really working. There isn't such a server that would look good, had great DMs, would let players shape the world, would be located somewhere in Faerun, the mod would be working and it would be a real FR server with all the lore. I know there are good DMs here. Cecil is one of the best I know. Loved your quests but why didn't you go for a FR server? You know it so well. There are players that need a good FR server. As for the poll... I always want to RP but I also like good drama, exploration, intrigue, magic and fantasy... doesn't have to be high fantasy though and not too much fan of politics either. Hint of epicness is nice but not too much though Cecil's quests were always kind of epic You're such a storyteller. Oh yeah and war might be interesting aspect depending on how it's done. Guess I don't like war much especially if it's PC again PC type of thing but again depends on how it's done. Then again... if you think FR there are lots of war elements... such as drown and surfacers. Anyway, rarely watch war movies. But hey I'm a chick. So go figure.

I've gotten some others telling me likewise, that they'd rather go back to FR. While there were quite a few who did like Azure, it was an early-stage Azure that was still heavily tied to the FR pantheon. That Azure is gone to be replaced with a more advanced, stand alone one and I really have been feeling, as I develop it, that it won't hold the same charm. SO to answer your question, and since I have been unable to work much on the server anyway so far, I will be considering heavily where to set it again, and will be taking down the azure lore sections for now until that decision is made. We can get more players if we make a great server set back in Azure anyway and more players is more fun!
